The History of Frets & Refrains

 Richard Thompson and Nancy Covey started Frets & Refrains in 2012 as a way to inspire songwriters and guitarists alike in a peaceful, fun and gorgeous mountain setting. At the heart of camp was their family members (Teddy, Jack, and Zak) plus musician friends they knew and admired. As co founder, Nancy took on the role of organizer prior to camp and “Camp Mom” when Frets & Refrains was in session. She also spearheaded the Zoe Klimley Scholarship program which has enabled younger musicians to attend camp. This rare mix of ages makes Frets & Refrains fun and truly unique! In 2020 the younger generation of Thompsons took over Nancy’s roles so the F&R “family" atmosphere continues!

While no longer working directly with Frets & Refrains,  Nancy continues  her music themed, personally curated cultural tours so you can still travel with her!  Nancy’s trips at Festival Tours International give tour members  a real “insider’s” experience of the music, people and culture of the places they visit. Upcoming trips include Louisiana Music Tour (Jazz Fest & the Cajun Country), Celtic Brittany, South Africa and Cuba.  www.festival.tours.com
